I voted 7-9, because I do recall my dad telling me bedtime stories when I was 5 or so. So, I just extrapolated a bit. However, being the spoiled youngest child, I did have my mom wake me up very gently every morning. She'd come in and rub my back for a bit, then go make me french toast or get my cereal ready. That happened until I left for college. I thought it was fantastic!!!!

At my mom's house, maybe I was 10 or so.

At my dad's house, not till I moved out and went to college! My dad used to scratch my back in bed every night for about 10 minutes before I went to sleep when I was young, and when I got older he gave me back rubs. It was our time to talk about important things too, in the dark and quiet moments.

I still ask my husband to tuck me in occasionally! I think I will keep tucking my kids in until they ask me to stop.

I remember my mom telling me at 13 or 14 that I was old enough to go to bed on my own and I can recall being very sad about it. But I was too proud or pigheaded or something to come out and say, "Mom can you please still tuck me in??" So with my daughters, now 4 and 6, I'm going to keep tucking them in until they tell me I'm no longer needed. With one of them, the 6 year old, I can see myself tucking her in as an adult; with the other, the 4 year old, I can see her telling me next year that she's ready to put her own self to bed.

My husband is a morning person and I'm a night owl. Almost every night, I tuck him in and make sure his feet are covered up just right. On the odd night that I actually go to bed before him (has happened only when I've been post-surgery or sick,) he tucks me in. Occasionally, we do go to bed at the same time and then we tuck each other in .

My oldest is 6 and he still gets tucked in and gets a bedtime story every night. And I'll continue to do this until he doesn't want me to anymore.

I think the storytime is important. Its fun, and gets them more interested in reading.

My kids are teenagers and I still go up to their rooms everynight to "tuck them in". Sometimes they want to talk, sometimes they don't. They like it. It reassures me that lights, iPods, phones... are in the off position so I sleep better too!
