Detroit, MI (AHN) - A Detroit judge sentences deadbeat dads to watch the TV talk show 'Maury' once a month to educate them.
Wade McCree, a Wayne County Circuit judge, got the idea to make delinquent fathers watch the show hosted by Maury Povich and features paternity issues after he saw a few episodes.

They can watch all day long and twice on Sundays, but in the case of my exH, he doesn't care what he "looks" like. He knows I will not badmouth him to our son so he plays ohhhh sooooo pitiful. He's "been filing for disability theorugh a lawyer" for the last year. He has made TWO child support payemtns this year, those were only made directly in front of the judge or go to jail. I do not interfere with visitation or impact their relationship in any negative way. Yes, go watch Maury you Son of a ......... nothing else has worked, I'm willing to give this a shot too... I've just about written off the over ten grand in arears.

I feel your pain, having walked in those shoes. In my case, he's dead so I will never be able to collect.

I agree. I've seen Maury and those pathetic cases he has on there, and I don't see how watching that is going to do anything to encourage child support payments. Maybe a trip into inner city with no visible means of defense would make a greater impact.
I think they should be made to volunteer in some of Detroit's homeless shelters that are full of women and kids with no place to live and no means of support. If they spent a couple weeks doing that, maybe they would understand what their own children and the mothers of their children are up against with no help from them.
Usually the women has no other choice but own up to being the mother, lol

That's really true. Just being a woman doesn't qualify as a good parent, a good mother. Women walk out on their kids too, but not as often as the dads do.
I knew a woman years ago who had 4 kids. Each of them had a different father. Two of them had for fathers, an uncle and his nephew. The kids all ran around in the dirt and out in the street, etc. as babies. She never took care of any of them. Her reason for having them? With each child, she got more welfare (She actually told me that.). She was a horrible mother.
I've known a lot of really bad mothers over the years.

That isn't what I meant. The Maury Show is women who are pregnant or have had children trying to prove a man is the father. I meant that since the woman HAD the baby she obviously knows SHE is the mother
