my son is almost 3 years old, do you think he can sleep now on a regular/ child pillow?
i noticed that he puts a plush toy behind his head now, maybe he needs a pillow?
Any ideas?

I think that once a child has started pulling up, and certainly by the time they are ambulatory to the point of being difficult to catch, its probably okay to stop worrying about suffocation during sleep. (assuming that's the concern, of course)

Yes, he's old enough for a regular bed, so a pillow seems to go along with that.

My 20mo has been using a pillow for a couple of months now and he is still in a crib.

my son is past 3 yrs and he sometimes asks for a pillow and then as he is settling down to sleep, he seems unconfortable. i take it away and he falls asleep----so i dont think its an age thing. if he seems to want something to elevate his head, then yes give him a pillow. i know babies that are a yr old and have pillows.

Once I took my kids out of the crib, I gave them pillows... travel pillows. I gave them "big pillows" when they asked for them.

A pillow is fine at that age. Just don't go out and buy any pillow though, they have different types for different sleepers ones for back sleepers, ones for side and ones for stomach sleepers. Find one for stomach sleepers since they will be flatter and more suitable to a 3yr old body.

Otherwise he might get a cricket in his neck! This is what my DS#1 told me he was getting from sleeping on grandma's pillows.

His age is enough to give him a regular pillow.
That will make him comfortable in sleeping.

I work with kids who have asthma and allergies and we always tell parents that kids don't really need a pillow at all if they are sleeping comfortably without one. It is just one more thing to harbor dustmites.

If you have a family history of asthma or allergies I would just skip the pillow.
