Surgeons in China have operated to remove a five inch tail from a four-month-old baby girl.

The little girl, called Hong Hong, was born with the tail but it had since doubled in size, reports the Anhui Market Daily.

OMG....I have to show this to my 10yr old daughter! I convinced her she was born with a tail and that I tied a rubber band around it and it fell off. Of course her father told her it was a lie and not possible, after he found out that she was telling her friends.....lol

This is pretty funny. My MIL always complains about her "tail" hurting her when she sits certain ways, especially in our kitchen chairs. I'm guessing she has a little extra tail bone that bothers her from time to time. Something that thankfully my wife and daughters don't have, lol. I'll have to show her this so she knows she's not the only one.

My sister broke her tailbone when she was in high school. She fell off a snowmobile. It bothers her to this day to sit on anything hard for any length of time.

When I was a teenager I used to baby sit for all sorts of medical students, interns, etc in Chapel Hill and I always got into their text books. I remember seeing pictures of babies born with tails and the text said we all have tails somewhere in development and for most of us it falls off before birth. But for the babies born with a tail, they just cut if off and tell the parents some lie about a cyst. Now remember this was way back in the 60's but I wouldn't doubt it is true.
