I voted in Montgomery County and nobody asked for an ID. Is this a PA law or just our county? Signature is all they go by. How do you feel about it?

They didn't ask me or my dad for ID. We went in together (it's just tradition).... but that might also because everyone in town knows my dad. Ofcourse, I'm in NJ though.

I never need I.D. Of course I vote in every election and the ladies at the table know me by name!

The Pennsylvania Election Code says that you show ID when you are new to a precinct, either because you're a brand new voter, or you recently moved to the area. After that, your ID is not usually required...the poll workers are supposed to compare your signature to the one in the poll book.

I live in Montgomery County and didn't have to show ID. Some people volunteered, it seemed, to make it easier to find their names in the book.

LibraGirl is correct. You only show I.D. if it's your first time voting at that location. The book that you sign has a notation for the poll worker if I.D. is required.

HappyRider, you asked how people feel about the lack of I.D. being required. As long as the poll workers are doing their job and comparing signatures (there is a copy of your signature in the book you sign) then everything should be okay.
