Hearing horror stories about Altoona. Cold unfriendly People???Any truth to this?? What are best towns near Roaring spring??

I grew up in a small town near Altoona. I remember people there being very nice, although definately not the trendiest or coolest group of people! Hollidaysburg is very close to Altoona/Roaring Spring and I've heard some good things about that town. Maybe Ebensburg or Windber also. If you don't mind being more isolated you can probably find a very nice house (it will just take a while to get anywhere)! Post again if you have questions!
