I had reservations, but my husband was fine with it. Go figure, men, lol. I just want one for every family member(once they get of age) in case they need it, and i pray we NEVER need it. My husband finds them to be a beautiful species, and may go insane in Cabella's. He also wants to take the boys hunting, so I guess its OK. Imagine that, peace loving, progressives who love guns, lol? We are quite the oxymoron, lol.
I can relate 100%, being from South Jersey. It was a funny thing for me growing up. I was born in Camden County to two Philadelphia families. Spent my entire life on either side of the Delaware up until high school. My mother and her whole family are vehemently anti-gun, my father and his family are surprisingly accepting, although I wouldn't have known it growing up. When I was around 9 or 10, I started developing a deep interest in guns, which basically threw my mom through a loop. I'd never be allowed to own touch, see smell, think about or knowingly be within 200 yards of a gun. After leaving Jersey, we moved to eastern Lancaster County, where deer hunting is the number one sport, followed by any other type of hunting. As soon as I was of age, I bought my first gun and never looked back.

Oh, also, the Taurus TCP is about the same size as a Ruger LCP. It fits in my pocket with a holster, it's a very tiny gun. Cabela's is a fine store, my gripe with them is just that it takes FOREVER to buy a gun. And I accept that a store that does that kind of volume of gun sales has to have a very strict procedure in place to prevent it from being a mad house, I've just grown so accustomed to being in and out in under 20 minutes that the 1.5-2hour process is taxing. But there are lots of perks and I really think that would be the best place for you to shop for a new gun.

Thanks again for advice!
It is possible, in the sense that it is mathematically possible to drop all the parts to a television out of a plane and it will construct itself before hitting the ground. Your odds are extremely extremely slim of getting any sort of carry license in New Jersey, unless you're a politician or high profile lawyer, or some other equally important/risky position holder.

almost impossible to get Carry permit in NJ if you are a resident, I dont see it being any easier being a nonresident. Get one in PA. I had a NJ carry permit in the 80s for a job I had at the time. It took months to get it.
Apparently I wrote the above in my sleep. I wasn't in Cabelas yesterday, I was in a Bass Pro Shop.

Most people will say schools are also off limits, however there is a "lawful purposes" clause in the law that bans carry in schools which has gone untested to my knowledge. I certainly wouldn't want to be the test case for that one.
There was an incident a few years back, exactly where I forget though, where a parent stopped a school shooting during some kind of school event, with his concealed handgun. Didn't fire any shots, only held the kid at gunpoint until the cops got there, and the kid didn't manage to hit anyone (only two shots fired, I think?).

No charges were pressed against the guy that stopped the shooting, so there's no actual precedent from that case.

Are you thinking of Meleanie Hain, "The Gun Toting Soccer Mom" who open carried to her children's soccer game? If not, I'm not sure what event you're thinking of. But as you pointed out, with no charges pressed, it doesn't set a clear precedent for us to go by.

Thanks. Its really a shame the great extremes of gun laws in this country. NJ has many law abiding citizens who need protection, just in case. Then again politics in this country have stayed within 2 extremes for a long time. A middle ground is no where in sight.

Oh, oh you're from south Jersey? I'm from North Jersey. We're supposed to be arch enemies right, lol? Kidding of course.
My dad's wasn't a TCP, but it was a Taurus, a big one.
My mom was afraid of guns and accidents I think, not so much anti-gun. I remember when there was a black out, and she called me yelling, "your crazy father is running around her with a loaded gun in front of the kids"! He responded, "what do you want e to do if some idiot decides to rob us during the blackout? Say, "Hold on Mr.Criminal, don't shoot until i load my gun"? He drives me nuts but he is right.
I'm not a gun enthusiast like my husband & dad, but I am NOT anti-gun. I just want common sense gun laws, and I want them out of the hands of lunatics. Sadly, I have met far too many to say its not an issue. I was shopping the other day and one nut said very loudly, "I want to kill something". His buddy said,"Ok, we can go deer hunting". The nut job said, "No I want to kill better, like a person". I was too shocked to report the sicko. Crap like that do not deserve to be near guns and make it bad for us all. That is all I'm worried about, criminals who have not gotten caught legally obtaining guns. Decent folks, who play it safe, more power to ya!
Thanks again for your input.

This answer is for colorfulchic83.
In NJ it is extremely difficult to get a carry permit. Forget about nonresidents. If you do decide to get a PA ccw, please don't carry in NJ, Md, NY, Mass, DC, or Ct. You will definitely be prosecuted as those states will not recognize other states ccw s. NH, Maine, are good and issue out of state ccw s. You must find out what states are recognized by the state you get your ccw from. Vermont does not have a ccw as I believe you can carry both openly and concealed. Always call the state attorney general 's office of whatever state you intend to carry in. Laws change frequently. Good luck!

Hilary is leading Trump by 10 points in Pa. That being said, how could Pa. be the hunting/gun state it is supposed to be?

Because the urban democrats outnumber the rural republicans.
