Hello. My family and I are looking to relocate to Lancaster County from Staten Island, NY. Would anyone from the area please advise on any areas in the county that have new construction developments? What are the school districts like as well? We are also Greek Orthodox and would like to know if there is an Orthodox Church in the county. Thank you all in advance!

I'm Orthodox and from Lancaster County originally. I went to St Nicholas in Steelton: St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church - Our Parish

There is a Greek Orthodox Church in Lancaster: Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church - Home
And a Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Camp Hill (wealthy suburb right across the Susquehanna from Harrisburg): Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral

Unless you have a definite reason to move to Lancaster, may I suggest an area about 1 1/2 hrs west of Lancaster, it is Franklin County, and the town I live in is Chambersburg, They just built a new Orthodox church here a few years ago and it is very nice.(I had a tour of it during their Food Festival last summer). Depending on your situation- retired, have school-age children, etc. Franklin County is pretty much all encompassing to satisfy your needs. I lived in Manhattan for a while in the 90's, doing government audits in and around the city. I visited Staten Island sometimes on weekends and learned that many of my ancestors settled on Staten Island before coming west. I think it would be worth your time to check out Franklin County/Chambersburg.

I'm from NY. It's AWFUL here in Lancaster. Crime, rude people, cliques, unless you have money if you're an outsider they treat you like crap. Ask anyone who moved here. I have met so many people who feel the same. I lived in 4 states and never had an issue until here. Their kids will treat your kid like crap also. Franklin county is garbage also. It's boring as hell and tons of red necks. Closer to Philly may be better. It's more expensive though.

You're right, you should have looked into someplace closer to Philly/NJ. Coatesville, Allentown and Bethlehem might have been better for you.

Interesting trio - Coatesville, Allentown and Bethlehem?? The only thing they have in common is bad schools.

I know that the Coatesville Public School district isn't the best. Are there no decent Public School Districts in the Allentown/Bethlehem Area?

Apparently bigben didn't like the truth. Sime people can't see the forest through the trees. As was told to me once "you can live here for decades, but if you're not from here you'll never be one of them. I obviously meant the suburbs. Bigben's remark that I should move to a ghetto type area only proves my point.

No you totally misread me. I have lived in several other states as well. I sort of understand some of your complaints about this area, however, the negatives that you pointed out haven't affected me that much.
When did I say move to a ghetto? I didn't say that. There are suburbs around Allentown and Bethlehem (and other areas of Eastern PA) that are more welcoming to transplants and they aren't ghetto.
