I lived in Shippensburg / owned a home for years. If it was not for the University, this area would have nothing. The Lurhs center is ok but they cater to the 50 + crowed and rarely get decent acts in. They just recently though had the nutcracker come which was great. If you want stuff to do, great food, shops, and an active downtown with events. Pick Carlisle PA. Chambersburg is alright but the bigger difference between them both is that Carlisle has more money in the area and when you have an area with more disposable income, you get more things. Sadly Chambersburg’s Downtown is blah and they focused too much on the shops near 81 (Exit 17 and 16). I love these two exits but the downtown get’s sacrificed.

Another thing about Shippensburg, a Parx Category 4 casino is coming were the lowes building is by November of 2022.

humphffff! that is the place where I last saw huey lewis and the news....

this is a hyper old thread, in fact started years before I was here and when I was still in the area part time, but reality is, green castle to just before the I81 bridge over the susq....its pretty much all the same. you are but a few minutes away from anything you want with the outskirts of carlisle being the shining jewel...looked at moving there close to the fairgrounds for decades, but then again, I had been a vendor/enthusiast at the fairgrounds for 25 years retiring last summer.

ps - I still do biz with kohlers (gateway gallery) as it is one of the better houses in the state
