I moved out here 5 years ago from Philadelphia and currently live in Sinking Spring. My children goto Conrad Weiser and I have no problems with them. The teachers are great and they care about your childrens well being. Sure you run into a few bumps, but all school districts will have those. try sending your children to Philadelphia schools! Now there is a nightmare.

All in All its a very nice place to live with good schools. As for the drive to shopping, if you stay around Sinking Spring, your only 10 minutes to malls and 5 minutes to food shopping.

This is good to know. We are planning to move to the West Lawn/Sinking Spring area as soon as we can. We have been looking at Wilson school district because of what we heard about Conrad Weiser.
Is there much to do in that area? We have 2 little ones, so we would be looking for family activities.
Thanks for any info!

Default Womelsdorf a Conrad Weiser town

Welcome to Womelsdorf, one of those small Conrad Weiser towns.

On behalf of the borough council, the mayor and the citizens of Womelsdorf you are extended a warm welcome to settle in Womelsdorf, a historic German settled community in the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch country.
Womelsdorf steeped in deep traditions enthusiastically embraces new faces to provide fresh insight and ideas to help build even better traditions for the future. Borough Council appreciates that you might chose our community to also be your community. Your talent, expertise and own ethnic background blended into our community creates opportunities for improving the quality of your new hometown.
Please come and enjoy our local business establishments, our churches and community events. If you are so inclined, join one of our service organizations. At the eastern end of town is situated Conrad Weiser State Park, a lovely place to spend time just strolling the grounds or enjoying one of the events periodically occurring at the park. We have nice well kept town parks with pavilions and children’s playground equipment for your enjoyment. The Conrad Weiser School District, go Scouts, has an elementary school located in the borough. The district is an excellent school system dedicated to the education of our children. Uncle Sam’s post office is located on North Third Street. The borough has one of the best swim pools in the county. A place where your children can learn to swim, participate on swim team and spend many a summer day building lasting memories of their childhood. Don’t miss the egg hunt at Easter, Strawberry festival in June, the town carnival in July or the Peach festival in August. Or how about those ‘wonderful good’ suppers periodically put on at the churches and Masonic Lodge. Do you enjoy a concert, fishing rodeo or a car show? Periodically you will find these events at the town park.
The volunteer Fire department not only works diligently to protect your property and life but also has social quarters which in addition to providing food, spirits and music also house a bowling alley. The alleys host several adult leagues and are made available for children to bowl on Saturday mornings. A weekly bingo game also occurs. The local VFW located just beyond the main borough park offers a place to relax and enjoy a fine PA Dutch meal. The VFW dining area is open to the public. Sportsmen, and women, there is a rod and gun club. Our wonderful library offers not only magical books with gateways to mystical places but also offers many activities and events throughout the year. The library receives local support unmatched by any other in the county. Want to coach? Throughout the town you will observe children playing organized, and at times not so organized, sporting events such as baseball, soccer and football. We are currently constructing brand new soccer and baseball fields. The baseball field is regulation size and will be one of the best in the area. Also under construction is a new shopping area with a Turkey Hill providing competively priced gas, a second pharmacy, car wash, a second bank and a resturant. Of course we already have a super market, state spirits store, beer distributor, local coffee shops, hardware store, pizza resturants, etc. All this plus low borough taxes and encircled by a farming area. However, to get to a Wall Mart you will have to travel 15 minutes.
Despite persistent rumors, the seasoned people you might encounter at the Tulpehocken Historical Society Museum and Genealogy Library building located on North Front Street did not have tea, or other beverages, with George Washington. But the first president did stay overnight in town and probably did have a night cap. Indeed the President’s visit was followed by a second visit a year later. Other presidents to pass through town were William Henry Harrison, Martin Van Buren and James Buchanon. John Kennedy passed through town while campaigning for the presidency.
A listing of meetings of all government bodies is displayed on bulletin boards outside borough hall. You are always welcome at these meetings and your input is sought and valued. Indeed if you wish to share your expertise by becoming a member of a government board you will certainly be considered for appointment as openings occur. If you want to be a decision maker become a member of borough council or even mayor. In this town, on local matters, Democrats and Republicans are often the best of friends. We put out a borough newsletter twice yearly to keep our people informed.
Where is this wonderful place? Want to book your next family vacation at this location? You don’t have to because if you are wise enough you will make this Pennsylvania Dutch Shangra-la - Womelsdorf – your new hometown.

There are LOTS of things to do there, like parks and ice cream and the kids are always very active and find things to do, we also have our own public pool for the summer.
