Another year and no Honeybees to be found. Haven't seen any toads around in quite some time as well. Suburban sprawl has absolutely destroyed this once beautiful state.

I've fished three toads out of my dogs baby pool (used to be the kids) and my husband buys honey from a co-worker. The sky is not falling quite yet.

Come to my back yard... there are bees everwhere. We have bees in the garage and bees in the dog house and two ground hives out by the back pines. And for some reason, they've staked out my side-view mirror on my car. I seems every time I get in my car, one comes crawling out from behind it! (Maybe it's the same one with a poor sense of direction, LOL !)

Don't get me started on the bunnies! We started with 2 and are now up to 8 ! One I named Carmel, because his/her head and neck were carmel colored, compared to the rest of him. Now he's grown with kids of his own! Then we have a pair of cardinals in our lilac bush.

However, no frogs at my location. I'm not near a water source.

Well to be fair while I myself likewise hate urban sprawl with a passion, I highly doubt this is the reason for the startling disappearance of the honey bee. As far as toads/frogs are concerned, I've actually noticed more of them appearing in my own suburban backyard recently than in any other year since we moved here in 1996.

Not to disagree with your sentiments on suburban sprawl and its impact on the state (particularly Lancaster County) but I thought I read that honeybees made an unexpected return in the east.

I've seen plenty, too, although I'm not the best expert in differentiating honeybees from other bees. They're loving the fact that I've been a lazy gardener and haven't cut the flower heads off the mint, catnip, oregano, or thyme.

I've seen more honeybees this year than the last few years. We have clover in the yard and they like that. Maybe if people would stop spraying their lawns to get rid of weeds they'd come back. No toads this year, excpet for a tiny one I put in my garden after seeing it as I was mowing the grass. I caught two garter snakes and sent them free in the woods so that might explain not seeing more toads. Plenty of yellowjackets, wasps, bumblebees, and hornets. The yellowjackest and hornets and wasps get exterminated.
