I need a good advice about cabin purchase in Pennsylvania, preferably in the Pocono area, something not too far from NY.
I am not familiar with purchases in PA and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I am not looking for a crazy expensive house but something in the range of 100,000 or less that I could use all year round.
Thanks in advance.

The area around Lake Wallenpaupauck is great. There are a lot of small communities and depending on where you live, it is not a far drive. We have a home in Doylestown and own a lake house close to Ceaser's Cove Haven Resort. It is a two hour drive door to door. Good luck with your search.

Thank you very much for your help!
Last time when I rented I loved the quiet surroundings and thought it might be a good idea to purchase. Below is a cabin I rented and I think it was just about 100K, what do you think?
And I live in Brooklyn, NY

On-site sewage is often a "gotcha" in PA. If a piece of land in a Pocono development has been vacant since an original 1970's era subdivision, there's often a good reason. Don't forget to ask about the sewage status of each and every property you look at. If you need help interpreting what the realtor or the disclosure form says, feel free to post again.

The best website I found that covers real estate is Bob Vila. com. They have literally hundreds of Pocono and nearby properties listed. If the real estate and housing bubble do correct prices and they go down substantially I might seriously look into buying property myself.

do you guys think the prices will go down more than they are now?
Should I wait or just go for it?
Any suggestions?

Prices have definitely gone down for vacation real estate from 2 years ago. I think they'll go down further still. I'd lowball an offer unless it was exactly what I wanted and money wasn't an issue.
