Yes and yes; Philadelphia and NJ/NY. But there are many large towns with job opportunities; it all depends on what your line of work is.

Don't laugh, depending on what area you are looking at, the best paying part-time job I know of is a school bus driver!

marcelle,
There are jobs all over the place. What kind of a job are you looking for? Do you have a college degree? What is your work experience? Retail? Service? Engineering?? Just asking about a "better paying job" is an awfully broad question. If you've been doing day care then maybe a bus driver would be a better paying job. If you've been a school teacher, then moving from Florida to PA would probably pay more.

Child care services seem to be at a premium around here. Maybe an in-home day care? Might have to be licensed. Or how about a teachers aide? I think just about all of the teachers aides in my kids school district have bachelors degrees and the jobs pay fairly well. Substitute teaching pays even more and if you would be willing to do it in the cities, you could probably work as much as you wanted. You can see the openings by going to the individual school websites.

With a Bachelors in psych, you could look into therapeudic staff support. I know in Johnstown they have 5 agencies that offer TSS. You work with children with learning disabilities at home or at school for hours per day. I'm sure other areas of PA offer the same thing. It's worth a shot. I know of someone who was making $18,000 per year who left that to become a TSS.

Be a stripper. Otherwise, you'll get paid slave wages.

I have learned of a great opportunity with a solid company that you can work part-time or the 'nooks and crannies' of your day. I also have a small boy with another on the way and I am so happy this was opened up to me. Arbonne is a wonderful 27 year old company that has a great reputation, results oriented products and is internet based. You can earn a wonderful income. i am working for myself BUT not by myself. I would love to tell you more, if you are interested.
Have a great day.
