Hello, we are looking at relocating from Michigan since my husband may have a job in Baltimore. With all I have read about the high crime in that area I am expanding my search to Pennsylvania.
Does anyone commute from there? How long of a drive would it be.
Also what are some nice, safe neighborhoods to live in?
I appreciate any help I can get, thank you.

Plenty commute from southern York County, south of the City of York. Enough are moving out of MD that York County is in the top 5 PA counties to add housing units this decade.

All areas are pretty safe with the exception of the said City of York. Search the PA forum for York threads for more details.

Length of commute runs from 45 mins (maybe less on a good day) from Shrewsbury to the north edge of the Balto. Beltway, to much longer if you're further north in PA, or needing to go further into Baltimore City. Can get an idea by checking the commuter bus schedule: rabbitEXPRESS – Welcome!

Cheap is also relative, cheaper than MD is probably still a lot more expensive than a lot of MI.

I am sure you are right. I am new to Michigan and was blown away by how reasonable everything is. Unfortunately I doubt if most of the rest of the country is as affordable.
