I am looking for the family of a Binghamton, New York woman who gave up her son between Jan 30 & Feb 14, 1926. She answered an ad in an Elmira newspaper about the COLE family looking for a child to adopt. They met at a train station in Hornell to hand over child. The woman refused to give her name or the name of the parents, but she claimed to live in the city of Binghamton and the baby was about 2 weeks old. We're not sure where the child was born.
This child is my father-in-law who searched his whole life for answers and never found anything. He has passed away now and I continue his search. I hope someone out there knows something.
Update: Recently did DNA test and got a close match to a CARPENTER in Louisiana. I've tried to contact him, but no response. Could Carpenter be his last name???
Maybe there's someone out there who has heard this story before from family members.
Interesting story, and best of luck. I cannot help you but I'd have a family mystery I am trying to solve so I feel your pain. It is very honorable that you are carrying this on for him after his death.
