Hi, I am looking for A family by the last name Callahan(may be a maden name) that had a female(i think) relative/ancestor that has a child and left him at an orfanage in Cantona,New York somewhere around 1908 (if i am correct) take or give afew years. That orphan is my great grandfather. the next paragraph is his biography if anyone is interested. If this fits you please reply to this thread!

Biography: He was adopted by an upstate new york farming couple at age 13(i belive) taking the name Dunn and worked on their farm, at age 16 he ran away and worked on some rail road, when he became an adult he moved to a neighborhood in the bronx married having 2 daughters of his blood(one of those daughters being my grandmother), and 1 step daughter not of his blood, then they moved to stamford, connecticut for a short time before having another step daughter as a result of my great grandmother cheating on him. Then he got devorced and was single for a while, eventuly marying another wife(the cousin of his former wife) and having a son, then ending up moving to floridia(near where they launch the space shuttles) he died in 1993 or 1994, living to a ripe old age somewhere in his 90's(he would be somehwere around 100 if he was still alive)(his 1st wife[my great grandma] in dead now but his 2nd wife[my step-great-grandma/4th cousin] is still alive at age 89[90 in august] and still living in floridia)

If this fits you please reply to this thread!

Uhmm... there are many Callahans in NY, many famous from Saratoga. But I first checked out the Cantona... I cannot find it on Google maps. No Cantona in NY.
But there is a Canton, NY way past Tupper Lake.

So going forward. Jim should show up in the census on ancestry.com

In 1900 in Canton, St Lawrence County, NY a Calahan family lived there.
Mary age 30 widowed born April 1870 Ireland
Kate age 9
Matthew age 7
William age 5

With no trace of them in 1910.
