Does anyone have suggestions of where to begin, at a family funeral we were told we have a sister, the whole family except myself and two siblings knew about her and the only thing they know is her first name and where she lived when she was little they say she was born maybe between 1946- 1948 and they do not know if she took my fathers last name, we do not know if we are out of luck or were to start. Town Hall records are closed until they are 100 yrs old unless we have a specific date.

If you could provide all the information you do have, like her first name, the last possible names, city/state you will have a better chance of getting help on here.

Your local library most likely has Ancestry.com - you could try looking yourself there. What avenues have you tried to find her?

So, why did no one ever say anything until then?
