I am hoping someone can assist in finding a lady, between the age of 80 - 90 yrs old. Her name is Anita Thompson (alternate spellings Tomson / Tompson / Thomson) She may be deceased. My father is dying and wants to speak with her one more time. They were in a relationship, after the second world war, in Luebeck, Germany. I'm hoping anyone can help in pointing me in the right places to search. Obviously this is desperately time sensitive and if I am able to find her alive, I would like to grant my father his dying wish..

Note that some of the resources I linked to above are in German, but some pages will give you a choice to translate to English.
Also note that the German spelling of Luebeck is Lubeck with an umlaut (two dots) over the u.

I found a phone number for a library in Luebeck. I'm not that familiar with German genealogy research. But I have traveled in Germany after learning just a few common German greetings. If you call and say hello in German and ask if they speak English, I'll bet someone would be willing and able to speak with you and maybe point you in the right direction in your search. The phone number, including the code to dial outside the US, is:

011 49 451 1224114

Joining Ancestry.com might help with a records search, and perhaps connecting to an online group that can help with searching for people in Germany. Ancestry.com has a 14-day free trial. It would be hit-or-miss finding someone on City-Data who knows how to locate someone in Germany, but check back often and see if an expert has posted advice.

Finally, here's another link you might find useful:

Good luck in your search, and keep us posted on how things are going!
