I have the obituary if you wish me to send it to you.
That would be great, if you don't mind. Email or DM, which ever is easier. And Thank You.

And, even if we find them on the 1940 census, that still won't tell us where Mildred went in 1960, 20 years later.

But, it might fill in some pieces of the puzzle.

I'm increasingly convinced that William and Jennie never divorced. They may have separated at some point, but I don't think they ever legally divorced. If they had, it seems unlikely that William's obituary would have called her his "wife." But, it bugs me that her name was spelled wrong (Jenney) in the obituary.

And, I don't buy the story that the older brothers couldn't remember their sister's names. Edward was at least 13 if not older when the kids were "sent away." A 13 year old would remember the names of his younger sisters, and likely also would know how to spell his mother's first name.

My father was put in an orphanage at 10, and he remembered the names of ALL of his younger and older siblings, and named ME after his mother.

Mr Leon, if you are still reading this thread, I saw your family tree on Ancestry. I noticed that you didn't have information about William's parents and siblings. I have that information if you would like to add it to your tree. Just let me know.
Of course I am reading the thread, because we have not found my Mom yet. I have been juggling a lot of stuff at home, leaving less time for posting. This situation is temporary and I will soon be full throttle again. That would be great if you have William's parents info and the siblings, as I have been wanting to add that to the tree. You can post to the thread or DM me, whatever you like. And Thank You.

Default Cousin count

Ancestry cousin count is now at 892 4th cousin or closer, up from initial number of 843. Still hoping for a half brother or half sister which could lead me to my Mother, Mildred May Galvin.

Default New lead

While looking thru research files on my computer I discovered a directory page from an unknown source which listed a Mildred Galvin in 1951 at the age of 23, occupation Clerk residing on Lawnwood Place. It did not list a city, but upon searching I discovered a Lawnwood Place in New City, N.Y.. Not New York City. Looks like a residential area, no apartment's. Close to CT, NYC and NJ. Could be another path that leads nowhere, or it might help us understand where Mildred went after leaving Waterbury but prior to her time with the Heckers. The age of this Mildred fits 1951 minus 23 equals 1928. Sorry I can't provide more info. I have to try to figure out where I got this info. If anyone wants to do a little digging, please have at it, and Thanks.

b. from any other date in time around 1928 (when Mildred was born) and after 1928.

There's a 73 Buckingham Street, in Waterbury, CT. Likely that's where he was, no?

Was this determined to be accurate and have you contacted Edward's children about their Aunt Jennie.

Edward Francis Galvin, of Vernon, died unexpectedly Thursday, (November 15, 2001) at his home. Born February 27, 1919 in Waterbury, he was a resident of Vernon for the past 20 years. He was predeceased by Jacqueline Galvin, his wife of 51 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an electrician by Local Union IBEW #35. He is survived by his three daughters, Roberta Treichel and her husband, David of Wethersfield, Renee Galvin of Minneapolis, MN, and Roxann Robinson and her husband, Gary of East Hartford.
