My grandmother never talked about him. She died 25 years ago.

This is all I know. During WW2 in France, she lived in western France. Suddenly, she moved East near the Alps and give birth to my dad. I suspect she probably got pregnant before moving, though it is only a speculation. Now my grandmother was born in 1911, making my biological grandfather probably decease, by now.

That's all I know, which isn't much. My grandmother never married.

Is there any other way to find out this biggest mystery of our family? Maybe DNA, but not sure how proceed.

Can you explain a little bit more? I am not sure you are looking for your grandfather or father?
Well anyway try the hospital he was born. If you have a way pay a great detective and for sure this people can find anything.
Also where did she live before? Neighbors?

I agree, I think the first step is so try and access the birth certificate or record of your Dad's birth.

I have heard of kinship studies where they can take a DNA profile from your Father and run it against everything on file. The problem is that its criminals and certain types of professionals who are on file, not the whole country.

Its a fascinating story, I am wondering if your Grandfather might not have been killed during the war, that being why she never married him. Of course I am only guessing.

You might try posting your Grandmothers name on some French forums to see if you can find anyone who remembers her name. Was she living in France at the time because she was French?
