Can anyone help me to trace a Relative from WW11 I have a Cerificate of Military Service From feb 07 1041 to nov 21 1944 bearing Number SSN/SN......... But no place/ date of birth owing to loss of records.Does anyone know of any means of following this up to get further information?
Search under the Veteran's Administration national archives or keep searching under different WWII websites for different records. Unless he was in a major battle it will be harder to find. If this certificate you have was his discharge it may have his unit and you could search under that, under the branch he was in. That's what my wife had to work with on her dad's records, but without much luck.
it appears that his records may have been a part of thos destroyed by the bleeding hearts when the firebombed the VA record center in St Louis in the 70's.....
