Many of the things cited in the blog article, far from being new and sinister, have been with us since I was a child in the 1950's and even before. #1 is about homes, mortgages, and property taxes. Well yes, it's been true for over a half a century that if you don't pay your mortgage or your property taxes you can lose your home. Why does the article act like this is some shocking news? Ditto with #2 (car license fees and car payments if the car is financed). #10 is just a repeat of what was written in #1 because it's about property taxes on homes. Some people just love to believe the sky is falling and they love to play the psychological game "Ain't it awful?" This blog was written for them.

I agree with both of you--this is like a joke. Of course I don't own a house or car if I am making loan payments on them-how is that someone taking what I own away from me?? My car is paid off. I own it. Paying registration fees and buying gas for it doesn't mean I don't own it..

Oh. I guess Americans, then, are the only people that don't need to be brainwashed, to set little children on fire with napalm and stand there and watch them burn, convinced that they, in their remote roadless stone-age village on the opposite side of the world, are the real threat to the folks back home.

Why in the world do you think anyone would take up arms against YOU, if they were not brainwashed, since your view is the only one that a logical, rational person would embrace?

Don't jump to conclusions about whether I have served or not. You're wrong often enough without making wild guesses.

Yes, because the GOAL OF THE MILITARY is to set little kids on fire and Watch them burn!

WTF ever dude.

IS there brainwashing that exists: ABSOLUTELY.

Is it gonna be 'interesting' if the military is forced to 'choose': You bet.

Does your way of stating your viewpoint tell us a lot about you:
Right again.

Does the military consists largely of people who want to HELP the American people...

Put your life on the line for freedom lately?

I rather detest the implication that the only reason to improve the quality of life is for some heretofore unknown and possibly unborn person. If I am going to take up arms and protest the sorry state of this nation, then I am going to do it for me - and for the men and women who pay taxes, and work their jobs to support our economy.

And as far as police issuing tickets as a form of "income" if people obeyed traffic laws, this wouldn't even be a consideration. So they get what they deserve, IYKWIM.

20yrsinBranson

it shouldn't be the function of the police force to raise revenue for their jobs.

i just think that the police have bigger issues to deal with than waiting behind trees for speeders, particularly in low speed zones/speed traps.

we certainly need the police but, if they don't have more important things to do, maybe we have too many policemen in our community.

by the way, this is not sour grapes because i haven't got a ticket since i got rid of my porsche but i do feel empathy for people when i see them getting a ticket.

the fines are pretty brutal for working people for some of the offenses, IMO.

There was a story in the local paper of how cities are using towing fees as a cash cow. One was an illegal left turn made by an driver with a suspended license. Although a passenger in the car had a valid license, they decided to tow it and levy a $500 towing fee. Even tickets for playing music too loud resulted in towing fees, with one city collecting $54,500 for towing cars for stereo violations!

I recognized the blog from the thread title, and agree it is centrally focused on economic crisis. I have found it's material to be readily verifiable in each instance where I doubted a citing. It's slanted, yes, but not inaccurate IMO.

Interesting that the parent domain for the economiccollapseblog is disasterandemergencysurvival.(com). Other websites registered under this domain include endoftheamericandream.(com), theantichristisnot.(com), addictionrecoveryhope.(com), and organichealthadviser.(com).

What do they all have in common?

The slant is all making sense now. End times babble, preying on the weak and gullible, and $$$.

Do they know where you live? They don't have to confront the entire population at once. Remember the Gestapo (and Stasi, Savak etc.)and the knock on the door in the early morning hours? Look up the suppression of the formidable Knights Templar in 1307 and see how it was accomplished. Do you imagine that they don't monitor these web sites and track IP addresses? The definition of domestic terrorist is being expanded steadily to encompass just about anyone they wish to classify as such.

The only viable way to challenge this state of affairs is in 2012. It may be the last free election we ever have the right to participate in, so use it for all it's worth!

Americans have been indulging in conspiracy theories since the founding of this country. We are one of the most paranoid societies on earth. One can go back throughout history and find countless examples of how we were supposed to be "enslaved" by progress, technology, or science. Two hundred and thirty five years later, we are as free and arguably as peaceful as we have ever been.

What if there is no grand Illuminati boogeyman, and it's all just a way for people who fear the unknown to comfort themselves with something intangible that serves to fill other voids in their life? It's no secret that conspiracy theory interest grows during recessions.
