Vegas, baby!

Actually, I'll probably stick it with some other cash I've got saved up and open a small CD. Interest rate will be low, but it's a safe investment until the stock market regains some stability.

Also, it's not a tax rebate, considering the people who pay the most taxes are getting nothing back. More like a tax redistribution.

We'll use ours to recoup a portion of the outrageous state income tax we have to pay here in MN.

Our economy (the U.S. economy) is made up of 72% consumer spending. When consumers stop spending the economy tanks. So, you give them money to spend in order to help spur the economy. Though it won't help, thats the thinking. As for Giving to the poor by taking from the rich. I think you needs to watch the news. With bank bailouts taking place, its the other way around.

Is this $ going to be a credit against next years tax refund? I had heard this. Can anyone confirm? Will we get $$ less at tax time next year - a bummer if so.

Kind of worried about a check going into my mailbox. Since we electronically filed, I wonder if they will electronically deposit?

Give it all right back when the next tax bill is due.

Oops sorry, I'm lying. What I meant to say is I will never even see that check. I will simply apply it to the next tax bill.

From the IRS website:

Q. Will the payment I receive in 2008 reduce my 2008 refund or increase the amount I owe for 2008?

A. No, the stimulus payment will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return.

If you filed your tax return electronically and provided your direct deposit account info, your tax rebate will also be directly deposited into your account according to this schedule.
