2019 was tough on us financially. I'm still not exactly sure of how things got as bad as they did, part of it was adding a new salt water tank and all of the fish to our household. Be warned this is not a cheap hobby by any means. We also spent too much entertaining family members who came to visit us, and also too many vacations. By the end of the year we had maxed out credit card and things were looking bleak. I ended up taking money out of our savings, everything we had saved except for 1,000 and put it all towards paying off the credit card. It didn't completely wiped out the debt, but it came close.
So my goals for 2020:
Finish paying off our one credit card completely.
Refill our savings account
Pay off our trailer loan completely

I don’t mean to be crass but JFC you’re in debt and wasting all your money on whining and dining family, a fish tank, and a trailer? Might I suggest re-evaluating your Financial priorities wholesale going forward.
Sell my remaining equity position in KHC when the market tops in early 2020 around DOW 30-32K. Sit in complete cash and wait for the deflationary bust that is coming by July 2020. Scarf up some land and gold on the cheap after the bust.

Wife and I just bought a house in March. We did a lot to it already this year but next year comes the following:
New Slider Door ~$2,000
New Front Door ~$1,000
New Driveway ~$4,200
I also assume I will need to spend some extra money on my car. It's at 88k miles on original brakes.
Short term goal is to finally recoup our 6 month emergency fund, we are close already. Long term is to finally afford a vacation somewhere in July. Been a while!
Hi, this thread usually starts around this time of year, so I decided to start it for 2020.
2019 was disasterous for us, I thought 2018 was bad but it pales by comparison to 2019.
Especially when my OH s hours got drastically cut.
So i/we have very slim to modest goals for 2020.
#1 goal is to at least maintain. That means not losing ground.
#2 goal was to finally bite the bullet and pay cash for a new vehicle to replace my money pit '06 kia Sedona. Well, I pick up my Christmas present tomorrow! A 2019 Dodge Grand caravan, 34 k miles $16,999, out the door $18,238.81, far less than the $20k we had to replace both vehicles ( $10k for each). Cash paid, 'vehicle savings account' about depleted, but should hopefully be 5-8 years at least to replace the '14 Hyundai. So have time to rebuild the account. Feels good to have NO payments on it.
3goal is my OH is looking for new job, please can we have one?? Please? Preferably full time with some kind of benefits. I'm tired of trying to budget with an unknown pay check, as neither part time job has any guarantee d hours, and could be a 4 hour week, or could be a 25 hour week at either, and one job has decreased apparently permanently. That 4 hour week business all summer killed off our budget this year, may next year be better!
Other goals remain to be seen, I'm not trying to plan too far ahead and have grave disappointment set in like this year.
So what are your personal financial goals, maybe dreams for 2020?
Do you think you will attain them?
While we are at it, have a great new year!! May it be healthy, happy and prosperous, in that order!
mine are continue saving for retirement and also to get done drilling my oil wells on one of my leases.
