I have a question regarding homestead exemption. Recently, my township made a mistake by charging me the city operating mileage in my winter taxes. I got that taken care of but my question is this-I have a county operating mileage included in my summer taxes-does homestead exempt this too?

I was overcharged to a tune of Fourteen hundred dollars on my winter taxes. The township said i never filed a homestead exemption application which was not true. I filled it out during closing and turned it in the office that very day. It pays to look over your bills.

Long story short..just trying to figure out under homestead exemption whether or not the county operating mileage (summer tax) is exempt?

Where do you live? Where I live there are only taxes once a year.

Michigan....we pay twice a year...summer and winter tax! (don't ask me why?! ) They (government in our vicinity) are proposing to do away with tax payments twice a year to once a year though.

Your county's property appraiser's website should have the info you are looking for.
