I agree that Amex is the best. I have Blue and Platinum Delta Miles. Delta Miles gives me double miles on stand alone grocery stores, cell phone bills and several others that I'm not sure of.... The Platinum is the best so there is a $135 annual fee BUT every year and renew you get a FREE companion ticket to anywhere in the US. When I signed up I got 20,000 miles intitially. Given a SkySaver ticket is only 25,000 it was basically a free ticket. That $135 well pays for itself.
The Amex does sound like the best. From your description, we would get about 2,000 miles per month. That's incredible.
5% back on groceries is the best I've heard of so far, although at the moment I'm thinking we're going to put all of our spending into the miles card and plan to get away, hopefully internationally, every year.

What is a Skysaver ticket? I guess I'm somewhat confused because I thought that 25,000 miles would get you more than one ticket. For instance there are like 7,500 roundtrip miles between NY and Paris, which would make me think that 25,000 miles would be like 3 round trip tickets between NY and Paris. Maybe I'm understanding this thing wrong.
I don't travel enough to make the airline rewards credit cards worthwhile.
I have a Chase Rewards card that gives me 5% cash back groceries, gas and drug store purchases. I get 1% cash back on all other purchases. Once I accumulate 5,000 points, I can request $50 cash back or a $50 gift card from a variety of places. I always choose the cash 'cause you can spend that anywhere. There is no annual fee. I refuse to pay any fees for any of my credit cards. I've had the card for about 6 years. I charge everything on it so as to accumulate enough points. About every month and a half, I get cash back.

It doesn't work like that. It would be nice if it did, but no. Typically an award ticket for domestic travel coach is 25,000 miles. First class domestic- 50,000 miles. Internationally 75,000 and more. Domestic coach only STARTS at 25,000 and can go to 90,000. No less then 25,000 though.
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but I wonder if anyone has opinions on the best credit card reward deals. We have a Capital One Miles card and have been using it for a couple of years, but don't seem to have saved up many miles. I was interested in the Discover Card but I don't think it gives you a big cashback on groceries, which is about 1/2 of what we put on the card. Has anyone used a particular airline credit card, and if so, was it worth it? Thanks in advance for your input.

Thanks for explaining, it did sound too good to be true. I'm thinking I'll take the Amex Blue with the cash back. Amex definately was the most recommended.

Amex is not as widely accepted as Visa or MC. Some places (I think it was Spain) didn't accept Amex at all, some mom and pops mini-marts and food / gas places don't accept Amex.
If you want travel rewards the best card is the Starwood Amex. The points transfer 1 to 1 to many different airlines and for each 20k miles you transfer you get a 25% bonus. So a domestic round trip ticket costs only 20,000 points. Plus the hotel rewards are competitive. If you travel a lot and can work the airlines ff programs to your advantage it works out better than the cash back cards.
