Should I pay off my truck if I have the money or build my credit. It's my first big purchase.

I'd pay off the truck. Time to get out of debt and stay out of debt.

I'd pay it off, assuming you probably have an interest rate over 5%.
Better, less expensive ways to build credit..
Get a credit card...and pay it off monthly

By paying off your truck you are building your credit rating.

The peace of mind of having your vehicle paid for far outweighs having to worry about repossession if you were to lose your income. Will probably lower your insurance, too.

Default debt later

If you can afford it pay off the truck.
Try building credit if you have credit cards. Do it like this. Buy stuff or service your vehicle using your credit card buy pay on the card in the grace period (no interest on the money borrowed.) over time this will allow you to build up some credit without getting yourself in trouble.
Or is you don't have a credit card take a small loan some smaller item.
Or you can get credit by doing what a lot of us here probably did to get a credit line. Become a student and take out student loans. (If your not a student already.)
Look trust me. You'll have plenty of time to get into debt when you buy your first home.

Don't borrow money to buy things that depreciate. You're only going to make a limited amount of money in your lifetime, and it's better for you to have that money than to pay it to a loan company in the form of interest.

You can make payments on that truck now, or you can retire at 50.
