The topic of tipping has been debated in multiple forums here ad nauseum. Do a forum search. You'll find more to read about tipping than you ever wanted.

If you have the answers what is it? This is for tipping since covid. Not asking of general restaurant tipping in the US, but only takeouts from regular local places, esp not the chain types.
I know it would be easy to take the attitude that I drove to the restaurant and served myself, but I know the workers don't make a lot there, so I tip for takeout. Usually 15-18%. I tip more if it's a sit down situation.
The only time I tip for takeout is if I get a military discount. My tip will be the amount of the discount usually, but I don't always tip even in those circumstances.
who do you tip?The one who takes your order or the one who bring you the carryout?
At our restaurant the same waitress who takes the order on the phone, also preps the order and delivers it to you. She should get the tip. It may not be done this way at all restaurants though. If more than one person is involved in this process they might share the tip, not really sure though.

Reason: Added something
What is appropriate tip percentage for web based order of restaurant takeouts you are picking up on own?
I did not notice tip portion when checking out few years ago. I see this with casual takeouts such as Jersey Mike’s too.
I usually do 10% but will adjust if it's a real small order and do maybe like 20 to 25 depending on the price. This most recent take out I ordered online and didn't see anyway to include a tip (I wouldn't tip on a place like subway or something that's more like fast-food; only in someplace where I would normally tip if I were to sit down in the dining area).
