My wife is getting ready to finance a new car. Steady job, excellent credit score, good pay. Any recommendations on a specific bank or credit union offering good rates you've gotten recently? Best I've seen is 5.24% for 60 months. Thanks.

Yes, see what the car dealer is offering. I'm paying 3.5%.

Yeah, she's over 800 as well. But I think your's is only for GMC products and we are looking at a Tesla Model Y to take advantage of the price drop and tax credit.

Thank you to all of you for your responses. USAA, where we already bank, seems to be tied for the lowest at 4.74%.

Get approved at a Credit Union or similar before you hit the lot, then see what the dealer can do for you. They will often beat what you bring to the table because they get a commission for originating loans.

Best car loan I ever had was originated at a dealership in 2014. 1.94% on a new F150 for 75 months.

Manufacturers also run special rates to move metal. I bought a luxury car as a CPO last year on a national ad campaign advertised rate. 0.99% for 3 years.

So, in case anyone is in the same boat, we went with USAA at 4.74%. Lowest rate I could find with a reputable bank. Checked several local credit unions, RBFCU, Security Service Federal Credit Union, as well as some outside of Texas, like Alliant, DCU, and a few others. Also better than the dealer's in-house rate. Of course, things can change from minute to minute but I would suggest checking USAA if you get what you think is a good rate. Hope I save someone a few hours of research!

I got a 2.89 from the GM dealer when I bought in '18. That was for a 48 month. Prior to that, on the two new vehicles I had bought, I was able to get the 0%.. Just couldn't get it this past time, even having a credit score around 835.

Just curious what your purchase date was on the 0%?
