a 1 million dollar umbrella is 693 and 387 for renters insurance
I was with geico for many years then about 3 years ago they jacked their rates way up. Progressive was materially cheaper. I still get quotes from geico every year they still aren’t competitive.

- $5 million umbrella for $700 per year in DFW with Berkley, but need to carry 500k on auto to get it (not that much more than 300k).
- $2700 per year for one vehicle (BMW X7 - 2,500 deductible) and a golf cart.
- $8100 per year for homeowners (~2.8m rebuild cost with guaranteed replacement coverage on top) - 2% windstorm deductible
- $1100 for personal articles valued at just under 100k.

I shop around every year and Berkley was by far the cheapest for my package.

I think we are all experiencing the higher costs of rebuilding our homes should we suffer some sort of catastrophe….natural disaster or otherwise. It is getting to be awfully expensive to secure adequate homeowner’s coverage these days.

$218 (2023 rate so far) 2m umbrella with state farm
$1385 auto coverage for 2 vehicles, 2013 Odyssey and a 2015 Fit. $500 deductible, 500k bodily injury, 100k property damage. 2 drivers at low annual mileage.
$1028 (2023 rate so far) Home insurance 1600 sq/ft sfh with garage. 1k deductible

My wife was born and raised in NC. She said car insurance was higher there compared to Virginia.

43m/39F with both excellent credit.

It's hard to compare insurance as there are so many variables

Thank you for updating. It's good to see a comparable house especially in the same state as me.

In 2020 we renovated and worked with state farm to update the insurance with the improvements we've done. With the crazy inflation, it might be good to touch base with them to make sure I'm still covered for the replacement value. We've also since installed a shed and fence, but still lower than what we have for dwelling extension coverage

I considered changing my deductible from $500 to $1,000 but the cost savings wasn't enough

Was just talking to an insurance broker about rates and Florida came up - some carriers don't write any new business there and rates are skyrocketing; too many recent claims because of weather related issues.
