There are many insurance and finance co's seeking relief for their exposure to derivative contracts. Generally, these divisions are not a part of the other insurance divisions of the company. Yet, some companies such as AIG are being forced to sell off different divisions to raise capital.
You should compare the coverages with what you have now. Are they offering the exact same or better...uninsured motorist, waiver of collision deductible, med expense, lease or loan gap. etc? Hartford is an old and established insurance co. based on my past experience with them, they
do have a standardized auto contract, which is important.
