My family adopted a dog from the Wantaugh place back in the early sixties it must have been. We had just brought our old dog there to be buried since it wasn't legal to do so in our suburban tract.
Our first family dog when I was a kid came from there too in the late 50's. Have been away from LI for a long time but thought they may have closed. I vaguely rem. it (the grounds) being a big place but I was a young kid then and what looked big then probably isn't any more. Oh well...
