We have 2 of each and usually they coexist very well but sometimes if a dog gets a bit too frisky with a cat they get a blap in the face. I think most cats know how to take care of themselves.
1 dog, two rabbits (one of said rabbits disabled). Ironically, it's the disabled rabbit who still seems to rule the roost. You don't wanna get him upset!
I have 2 dogs; 1 German Shepherd, 1 Great Pyrenees/Akbash mix and yet they are ruled by a 14lb black cat. The cat was a shelter stray but came into our house and took it over in a few days, its quite funny. I think it just depends on the personality of the cat though. Our previous cat was never in charge of the dogs, he hid/ignored them his whole life.
Our dogs and two of our cats get along, and no one really tries to dominate or needs to. Our oldest cat, the smallest animal in the house, rules. She hates all of them, and they all fear her wrath. Well, my dogs do. The cats take her a little less seriously most of the time. She's lived with big dogs all her life and she's not intimidated by anyone. I forgot to tell her that pit bulls are vicious lol, and if I tried I know she'd give me a look of utter disdain (she's really good at that look).
Neither really. That of course is because my dog is very tolerant. The male cat we have when he hears me go outside to get him after one of his trips gets to the door to wait ;rub up against him then walks beside him to where he is going. He often stops when passing and snuggles the cat.
Caesar the peke....the one and only ruling head of this household, served by the butler
and maid of the house.
