Is there an official Philadelphia Police Department breakdown of types and number of crimes per neighborhood per year in the Philly area? I'm particularly interested in violent (person on person; shooting, stabbing, rapes, gang attacks, racial or hate) crime and property crimes (particularly car theft and home burglary).

Thanks

Try this one. You don't have to sign up although it's free. Just choose "search by zipcode"
This isn't the only site like this but I can't remember the other ones. Of course Google could tell you.

I checked the website and it shows a crime has happened practically everyday. Can this really be true? I am planning on moving to Philly from NYC and I feel comfortable walking around my neighborhood. Is Port Richmond a safe neighborhood? I heard that it depends on which block you live so how can you find out which block is safe or unsafe. Also I wouldn't mind moving to the outskirts of the city but I'm afraid of being discriminated, I'm Latino.

Yes its true.... Basically.. The furthur you move away from the city, the lower the crime drops.. Its not rocket science. The more people you have, the higher the rate the crime is.. Its that simple..

Not exactly... Tokyo has 40 million people in its metro and has an extremely low crime rate.

Perhaps you meant number of crimes?

We are not talking about Tokyo. We are talking about Philadelphia..

All of these neighborhoods are violent crime free for the most part:

Chestnut Hill
Manayunk
Roxborough
East Falls

You can probably toss a majority of the Center City neighborhoods in there too.

we get it frank, you used to live in the city and there were all kinds of hooligans here and they made you sad.

you moved out into the boonies and you couldn't be happier.

great for you.

but that doesn't make what you say true.

with more people there is generally more crime but not necessarily a higher crime rate.

Philadelphia offers many neighborhoods that have very low crime rates that are often lower than the rate of surrounding suburbs.

unfortunately port richmond is not one of them. it is in my opinion a pretty dingy neighborhood. the housing stock is bad, the location is bad, i see things getting worse there before they get better. but there are plenty of other neighborhoods that are better.

for a similar price range as port richmond i'd check out south philly zip code 19148. you have to pay attention as there are bad pockets here but overall fairly nice.

i'd also check out zip 19104 in west philly. it's partially in university city but also lies outside of that area so the prices won't be too high. up and coming neighborhoods around here.

also check out the neighborhoods debbie posted above me too, she's right on there, although living in these neighborhoods would likely be considerably pricier than living in port richmond.

of course all cc neighborhoods are great but the price there is the highest.

I just checked my new CC neighborhood and it's had more crime in the past week than several of the NYC zip codes I plugged in had in over a month! What is going on in Philly?!
