Late 30's, single, no kids.
Working in CC.

I'm currently living with relatives in Montgomery County. My commute consists of 15-min drive to the train station and 1 hour ride, each way.

I want to shortened my commute, so here's my criteria:
Must have:
- Rental 1BR Apartment (max ~1k/month)
- walking distance to Regional Rail Station
- Train ride 30 minutes or less to CC
- Nice, quiet neighborhood

Nice to have:
- Close to a big gym (ie, LA Fitness) and park (for jogging)
- No traffic jam during weekends (shopping traffic)
- Not next to any schools

I'm a shut-in, so I don't need to be near bars or restaurants. I would like a quiet neighborhood, not a lot kids around. After work, I would only leave the apt by driving to a gym or go jogging. On weekends, I like to take my car and drive around the city.

But mainly, I just want to cut my commute to a total of 1 hour a day. I'm opened to all areas.

This place meets all your criteria except the walk to toresdale station could be a hike depending on where your apartment is located in the complex. They do have a shuttle and also you can park at toresdale station for one dollar per day.

There are some apartment complexes available near the Jenkintown train station, which has three lines running into CC. A brand new LA Fitness just opened within a half-mile or so of the station.

We drove by the Elkins Park station and there's a "for rent" sign on the building across the street. Here's the Trulia ad:
7876 Spring Avenue, Elkins Park PA - Trulia

I've never been inside, but it looks cool from the outside. Area is nice and quiet.

If you want to buy, every area has some less expensive houses or condos to buy. If you want to rent try Philadelphia Apartments - Rent Philadelphia PA Apartments
