Hubby and I spent the weekend in Bucks Co. Loved the Yardley area. Large neighborhoods with tons of kids. Especially Afton Elementary school area. We were discouraged to find the high school so far away. Also the high schools appeared, from the outside, to be rather run down. Does anyone know how long the bus ride is for the kids to the middle schools and the high school? Or do people from Lower Makefield send their kids to private high schools? Are the Council Rock High Schools "better" than Pennsbury? If so, why? I just can't imagine my oldest sitting on a bus for 30 minutes or more twice per day for the next 5 years...is this the norm? If anyone can shed some light on the environment in the Pennsbury middle & high schools and also the bus rides, I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!

It's not that far.. I personally probably live the furthest from the high school - I'd say it's about 10-15 minutes from our house to the high school. So depending on what stop your kid is on the bus, it could be a half hour bus ride, sure.. but I don't think that's too abnormal for any school if you're the first kid on the bus.

The middle schools are closer, they are off of Big Oak Rd. Prob more like a 5-10 minute drive. Its the high school thats the furthest because it's in Fairless Hills, not Yardley.

I think Pennsbury and Council Rock are both great schools. They both have good things going for them. The Pennsbury marching band is nationally ranked and does amazing things every year (trips to Disney world etc) and the high school prom is known about nationwide too (google it, John Mayer has performed) - the kids all get involved and decorate the gym and they don't do a fancy hotel-prom, they turn the gym into a wonderland, it's pretty amazing.
