This isn't fair. We have more free pool access, in the summer, than any city in the country, correct? The Free library system is pretty cool...better than it's been in a long time. You probably don't use it so you have no clue what they do.

Does the Chicago PD send its officers-in-training on field trips to the Holocaust Museum and the new African-American Museum in DC? The PPD does hoping that that exposure will educate those new officers.

He's a cut-flower, btw. I also helped him get his bearings on the city's geography soon after he moved here from New York. And free-associating: Mayor/Gov. Rendell, in many respects the best mayor we've had since Dilworth (an auslander), came from where?
As I've pointed out multiple times, Rendell's public service career started at the age of !!34!! when he started his first term as DA on Jan. 2, 1978. One has to wonder how he did that in a city with an enormous Dem machine not interested in "carpetbaggers" originally from NY. And, it too, makes me wonder why we have millennials in town who are now older than that who have not made similar moves 40 years later. Rendell was/is gifted but there are lots of millennials who are too.

Rendell could not help but be better than Wilson Goode as mayor. His personality alone would make him that.

Could it finally be happening? Height is shrinking about 70ft to 542Ft, but I hope the original renderings are still in play.
I sure hope so. His track record, though, seems to indicate he would get it done.

And groundbreaking for the Laurel is in 3 weeks now?
Apparently they are ahead of schedule by over 6 months. If Curbed is correct, this is very exciting! Keep an eye everyone if you are near Rittenhouse.
Can't wait!

Don't forget that Rizzo tried to capitalize on Rendell's NY roots by calling him Fast Eddie. Later people adopted Fast Eddie as a term of endearment.

That place is almost too nice. I'm not sure they are going to let the bands I see play there.

Metcalfe represents the worst possible brand of politics (and I'm not referring to left/right divisiveness; he's simply an inflammatory blowhard).

He has arguably held ALL of Pennsylvania back, not just Philadelphia. But at least his extremist positions/rhetoric work to push most people to the center, even in the Central and Western portions of the state.
