Most people I know have been in the city 15 years or less and they all take voting pretty seriously. The problem is a) we're spread out in 6 or 7 different council districts and b) the districts are set up to keep Center City from having a seat.

Squilla is as close as we get for now. I don't think Johnson is going to last for very long. Interestingly, those seats have been held by people from South Philly for a long time even though the districts stretch well beyond South Philly. I've never seen any serious candidate from outside of SP.

Anyway, our best hope is the at-large seats.

Wanamaker Plaza has broken ground on the campus of Temple University. The result will be a 14 floor 214 foot building with 823 student beds... this is just Phase 1 of the project.
