Yes, I do agree that the design was pushed in a more conservative direction (the well-heeled NIMBYs, I'm sure, had their say privately) precisely because of where it's located.

But as cpomp suggested, I hope the more flashy Arthaus is more of the standard with forthcoming proposals.

With all fairness, our responses weren't meh.
I am extremely pleased with The Laurel, and I applauded the Walnut Street entrance. My only "critique" is that while the tower is very nice (and tall) it's not quite a showstopper. I still give the project an A.

*Edit - Looks like Duderino beat me to it.

I slightly prefer the Laurel to Arthaus but I think we can all agree that both turned out to be great additions to the city. It’s exciting that we are getting some world class buildings added to the skyline that also interact very well with the street.

Agreed. At least neither are akin the Symphony House (S Broad) or high-rise at Walnut/18th (Ritt Square)

The Laurel is a bit bland compared to Arthaus; the former is certainly not a showstopper. The Arthaus looks very cool...especially compared to the cheap looking Symphony House sitting across S Broad from it.

how did 18/Walnut, 210 W Rittenhouse Square, or 1845 Walnut get built then?

Maybe those in a more conservative direction or the well heeled NIMBYs are ''risk averse'' to more flashy buildings given the 3 cited.

That said, Arhaus would fit in well on Rittenhouse compared to the ''flashy'' buildings mentioned. The Laurel certainly doesn't ruin Ritt Square ambiance...1845 Walnut, 210 W Ritt Sq. and 18th/Walnut certainly do though.

Universal’s Jurassic World and Back to the Future Escape Rooms: Spoiler-Free Impressions

Comcast needs to open something like this in Center City. Would be perfect for Market East. It's like an amusement ride meets escape room. I really liked the Jurassic World "walking ride" at the Franklin Institute a few years ago. That was a good attraction.

Isn't that geodesic-dome thing on the upper level of the Comcast Information and Technology Center's lobby supposed to be an immersive ride of some sort?
