Yeah, it's better than nothing. I don't see why it would cost that much. The basic infrastructure is there, so you could probably convert it into a subway line much faster than you could build a new one. You could have an express suburban line that makes a stop in Chestnut Hill to pick up the bourgie people before heading straight into Center City. Then you could have the local line that stops at all of the other stations. And those stations need attendants, right? That's more jobs for Septa employees. Who loses in this situation?

Kind of bringing up a dead horse thread but I do believe Philly needs to do better in terms of the subway lines.

On Tuesday after Labor Day, I rode from 69st to 15 and I've never seen it so crowded before, I could barley get out at all, it's an absolute nightmare at 15 st and I'm somewhat glad for nearby 13 and 11th street stops or it would be a caotic scene, (even though it already is)

We need more A/B stops or an express line extending the subway surface routes.

Northeast Philly is very difficult to naviagate depending on what part your in.
Some people I know, get of at the transporation center and take 2 buses.

There needs to be a subway in the Northeast.

There really is no arguement about Southwest Philadelphia. It is served by 5 trolley lines which could make a nice subway line.

I agree, septa needs about 2-3 more subway lines on to what are current.

With the Market Frankford Line around,it really couldn't fail.

I was thinking about what a Northeast Philly Roosevelt Blvd Subway extension from Bridge-Pratt (yes, I still call it that sometimes) would be like. The 14 and 20 buses can sure get packed - especially during the weekday rush hours and weekend afternoons.

How about these for new stations:

... travel up Bustleton to....
- Bustleton / Roosevelt

... northeastern turn on the Blvd for stations at...
- Roosevelt / Cottman
- Roosevelt / Rhawn
- Roosevelt / Welsh
- Roosevelt / Grant

Not sure if you would go past Grant. Even going past Rhawn is a bit of a stretch, IMO.

because although ridership goes down on holidays and sundays... it doesn't go down anywhere near the same rate at which septa cuts it service. The result is extreme overcrowding despite the fact there are actually less people using the system on days like these.

haven't you ever ridden on septa on Sunday before? always crowded because trains, buses, etc show up so infrequently.
