Welcome to Newtown Borough, Bucks County, PA

Welcome to Hamilton Township - Hamilton Township, New Jersey
If she is going to Drive and you would et a car Newtown may work for you

As said earlier, the drive into NYC is a pain from Bucks, nearly all take PT; which isnt great but not awful

Newtown is a walkable old town (grew up in the area) but wont be the same as the city.

I'm pretty sure she can park at the Mt Laural bus terminal and take an express bus to 42nd and 8th Av bus terminal.

Why not Princeton? Many people commute on NJ Transit to Manhattan from Princeton or Hamilton.

not sure if you are still looking, but here is my advice...

growing up in langhorne, i would not immediately say to check it out because the surrounding middletown township is largely suburban. however, after reading the description of what you are looking for, i realized it may be the perfect place. background info- the mailing address "langhorne" comprises three municipalities- langhorne borough, langhorne manor, and middletown township. the township is super super suburban, don't look there because you will definitely need two cars. the borough, while beautiful, quaint, and walkable, does not have many restaurants, and the closest grocery store for veggies is a 30 minute walk.

langhorne manor is directly next to the borough, and is equally as beautiful, quaint, and walkable. the main issue that makes the two not walkable together is that their grid pattern is cut through by route 1. for your situation, the manor is much more convenient for you. the langhorne train station is located in the manor, and literally across the tracks is a small grocery store (with surprisingly good produce), cleaners, pizzeria, bagel shop, and more. furthermore, langhorne manor is made up of large, old stately castles/mansions that virtually all have been converted into apartments. SO you would get living in the suburbs without being in a creepy apartment complex/development.

your fiance's connection to nyc (route 1) is a 2 minute drive
your 45 minute train ride to center city is at most a 10 minute walk away
your older architecture so common in philly still exists in langhorne manor
your veggies are a 2 minute walk from the train station
my opinion? skip the veggies and go the few doors down for some good pizza

PS the train always runs until at least 11 so you wouldn't even have to experience lower bucks county bars/nightlife... which is sadly a cross between typical white middle-class suburbanites and pennsyltucky's finest
