Did you check out the information about housing on Wharton's site?: The Wharton MBA Program | Housing Your adviser should be able to help you with health care questions. My daughter is in grad school and has health insurance through her college. It was well priced and convenient. All colleges have the option to buy into their insurance, and I'm sure they have something for families of grad students too.

I think where you live is going to determine your transportation needs. If you are close to campus, a zipcar would most likely work well.

I live in Newtown (Bucks County) and, although the town would satisfy most of the items on your list, it would entail driving to U of P's Wharton School by way of I-95 South, exiting at 22/I-676 West. That is where the potential downside exists with respect to living in Bucks County. On a good day (little traffic, no construction, no accidents, favorable weather) you could make it to University City in 45 minutes or so.

On a day when construction is ongoing or an accident has occurred or an event might be happening in the city - or on a weekday in the early a.m. or from 3:00 p.m. through rush hour) it can take over an hour, easily. The unfortunate truth is that construction projects seem to go on for years and years on the section of 95 spanning the Bucks Cty. to Center City exits. The current construction taking place aims to increase this route to four lanes which will facilitate traffic flow to some extent.

PS: To the Thread Expiration watchdogs: I know, but I feel it's a timely topic (see my post re: construction on 95).
