Went on a two day trip to Philly and not that impressed at all.

I'll start out with the positives:

1. Was surprised how there was a lack of traffic.
2. On one of the 76 freeways, it was quite scenic - short rock cliffs to the right and river to the left.
3. It is a very old city and I thougt it made it unique from many other U.S Cities.
4. Center city was much better than I expected. However, as soon as you're in Center City, before you know it you are out of it. It is very small.

Negatives:

1. The Pennsylvania turnpike is a rip off. Took the turnpike from King of Prussia where the sign says no ticket or ticket. I figured I don't have ticket to get on so I took the no ticket lane. Tried to get a ticket and nothing came out. I get off the next exit about 5 or 6 miles later and I'm told that I need to pay $27 because I don't have a ticket. I was really starting to like the Philly area and now I hate that place and won't ever return because of that scam!
2. Man this place is dead. So many places close early and when we were driving at 10 PM it felt like it was 3 AM. It was desserted.
3. Geno's and Pat's steak and cheese sucks. Geno's staff have major attitudes. Only cash?? Even worse, the worst attitudes ever! Every single one of them.

Bottom line, next time I will drive an extra hour or hour and a half and just hit NYC. Forget the cheesesteaks.

To Kidphilly, man philly sucks!! Sorry.

You sound like the type of person who would complain the pearly gates weren't pearly enough.

on the negatives. What does you not getting a ticket in K of P have anything to do with hating Philly? Nothing.

Everyone knows Pats/Genos stinks. Thats why only visitors like you are sucked into those tourist traps.

I would like to respond to your negatives
1 Anyone who does serious traveling , has an ez pass.
2 Where were you at ,that it was dead at 10 pm?
3 No one from Philly eats at Geno`s or Pat`s.
LMAO, this is what this forum is really good for. Where is a good place to get a cheese steak? Where are some hot spots to hang out after hours? What lane should I be in on the turnpike ,if I don`t have an ez pass? Not ,please tell me where should I live?

Considering that not one inch of the PA Turnpike touches the city of Philadelphia, I'll take your criticism with a boulder of salt.

I've lived in Philly for two years now - the only time I've been on the turnpike was when I moved here. Even before I lived here I knew nobody actually went to Pat's and Geno's - so I didn't have to waste my time on that.

Sounds like you're pretty attached to your car. Three of your four positives have to do with cars and two of your three negatives. It's not a car city. How are you supposed to form an opinion of a place just driving around? That's really lame. It's best you just keep on driving.

Seriously? It's the weekend/4th of July, it's the hottest week of the year and you're wondering where everyone is?

Read a page about Philly and you'd know . . .

They're at the Shore!

also, it's 2012 . . . who in the world doesn't know how a toll road works?

So, just to be clear, you spent, at most, a total of an hour in Philly and only left your car to get an overrated, tourist trap cheesesteak.

If I did that in any city, I'd probably have the exact same "unimpressed" opinion as you.

Wow! They don't have toll roads where you live?

Geno's and Pat's serve THOUSANDS of people a day. Order, pay, move along. Not too difficult. Sorry if they weren't especially courteous to you.

You will not be missed.
