No one here has a right to dictate what other people eat. I agree that Cheesecake factory is distasteful (to my taste). The only time I went there (KoP) the smells, noise and menu were enough to make me and my companions get up and leave before we even ordered. On the other hand if someone wants to eat there it is there business not mine. If C.F. wants to plant their flag in Center city that's fine with me and I hope they are successful .

Give me a break.
Are you serious? Pizza is the number one food associated with NY by far.

Go reread your entire diatriabe of nonsense. You claimed that Philadelphia shouldn't worry about decent dining options because their culinary contribution is the Cheesesteak. Using your logic, New Yorkers or even Chicagoans for than matter, shouldn't have nice dining establishments because people think of Pizza and Hot Dogs as soon as those cities are brought up.

I responded to what you literally bolded in my previous post. Perhaps you should learn to use multiquote and make more coherent arguments if you want me to reply to other parts of your response.

I am not sorry that my pity by proxy insulted you, because I wasn't thinking of you when I wrote it. I was thinking about the people that have to eat garbage - REAL garbage - to survive. That's my 2 cents with this thread and I'm leaving it at that.
I've eaten real, molding garbage to survive. So perhaps you are talking about me. People don't pay to eat garbage isn't a useful statement. It is meaningless because nobody on either side has even bothered to define the definition of garbage and what attributes it takes within the frame of this debate. That's my point. All of this arguing is pointless because none of you are actually arguing on the same page.

Again, I wasn't arguing about whether or not it is actually garbage. I'm personally telling everybody in this thread to stop arguing if you're going to argue in such a poor manner.

I guess we're just not up to your standards. Too bad.

Oh, don't say that. I do quite like you, after all. I'm just trying to say if this board is going to have a real argument about this then please slow down and start over. This argument got off to a really bad start. It all started when someone said the food is "gross". There is no actual structure to the argument. No one is going to win the current argument because you're all on a different page with arguments all over the map. That's all I'm trying to say. It isn't a criticism on anybody's intelligence level or anything like that. I'm just trying to moderate the argument because it has gotten a little.... off-track? We need more communication between the channels. I would just like to see a more constructive debate.

P.S. Let me amend my previous post by saying "many involved in this argument", instead of "everybody". That is more accurate and less generalized.

I really don't see what the big deal is. Cheesecake Factory is one of the better chains, imo, and I like their strawberry lemonade. I'll eat there.

I'd love to see a Cheesecake Factory open in the city. I'm a foodie and find it to be one of the better chain places. Would be nice to not have to go to NJ to get my cheesecake fix and a decent dinner at a reasonable price

The Cheesecake Factory does a good job with specialty cheesecakes like cookie dough or peanut butter cup, but if you like your cheesecakes on the simpler side, you can't do any better than a good, old-fashioned Jewish deli like Famous.

Believe it or not, the Aramingo Diner makes fantastic cheesecake ... but that's about it. Try the cheesecake.
