Hi everyone:

I'm moving to Philly this August. I will be working in University City area. Being a single guy, I prefer to live in the area where I can meet a lot of new people, whether being night life/social events/sport events. I also want to live close to where I will be working. After some study, I find Rittenhouse Square might be the best fit. But the price is also very high (around 2k/month). My question is, are there cheaper alternatives?

Thanks all!

A little further east in the Washington Square West neighborhood (east of broad St, 19107) Plug that zip into Trulia - Real Estate, Homes for Sale, Apartments for Rent, Local data with the rent option and also try Philadelphia Apartments for Rent | Philadelphia PA Apartments | Philadelphia Pennsylvania Rentals

Also it wouldn't hurt to look in Rittenhouse, that's 19103 Buses run on Chestnut and Walnut streets continuously to go back and forth to U City.

Graduate Hospital area is a bit cheaper and you can walk to Rittenhouse from there. Alot of places are listed online on LISTS. Most places in Philly want 3 months rent to move in (1st, last and 1 month for security). Be ready to move fast and good luck.

Washington Square West
Old City
Fitler Square
Fairmount
Graduate Hospital/ Southwest Center City
University City itself
Spruce Hill

These areas should be good substitutes

Thank you all for your advice!

I have come to the point that social life has to be the other major part of my life besides my work. If this is the case, could you refine your picks?

Thanks Philly folks!

Basically everything Summers343 just said with the addition of Northern Liberties (just north of Center City) and perhaps East Passyunk Crossing/Passyunk Square (South Philly).

As Center City proper is but two square miles, one is never too far from the action.
