The projects by Bartrams Gardens are supposedly pretty rough as well. The MLK Homes were notorious, as were the Southwark Projects. Really any of the projects.

Yes, although a lot of them - including ones mentioned in this thread - have been torn down in recent years and replaced with low-rise. This is what's happened in many cities who built highrise projects in the 50's-60's, as those style of highrises had come to be widely regarded as social failures.

Could you name some high rises? Because I keep only finding low rises on the Internet for some reason.

During the crack epidemic, why was worse in the badlands glenwood or Fairhills? What was the worst high rise tenement out of those 2 areas?

We still have one on Washington Ave, I believe between 4 and 5th st and they are constructing 800K dollar condos right next to it.

I think you mean that one tower that was once part of the southwark projects, but was renovated and is now (I think) senior housing.
There is now low rise public right around there that replaced the other towers that did come down.

Guess it is senior housing, but to me if it is subsidized living it is a project for old people? Not necessarily knocking it. The new low rise projects you mention amaze me. Some of the cars I see in the parking lot are as nice as mine.

How many people who post here were even alive in the '80's?
