Anywhere in the State except for Philly, this guy would have been a hero. Instead he has to wait and see if he is going to be charged for saving a man and his dog, from being mauled to death. This city is a good city, but I wish the powers that be would back up the good citizens.

First of all, you have no evidence to back up your claim that this would only happen in Philly. This is nothing more than unsubstantiated conjecture. Secondly, if someone pulls out a gun and fires four shots in a residential neighborhood, it strikes me as prudent for police to investigate the situation further. To not do so would seem to indicate they view is as "just another day in West Philly." No where in the notice does it state anyone is being held or charged with any violation, so it seems a bit pre-mature to get draw such broad conclusions.

Any time there is a shooting, the police have to do an investigation. Fortunately, in PA we have a stand-your-ground law so nothing will come of it if the facts are correct . .. forget about the fact that these were dogs not people.

I don't see anyone charged in the West Philly incident either. Given the detail that's be been released so far, again, I don't see any reason to get one's knickers in a twist. Come back when the smoke clears. Personally, if someone fired four shots outside my house, I'd be pretty upset if the police response was "Move along - nothing to see here."

In response to the title of the thread "The is what upsets me": Folks who fire off half cocked with a transparent agenda but little of substance to back it up when called on their nonsense. Perhaps you'll find others willing to take the bait. I have better ways to spend my day.

I wouldn't worry. If the handgun was legally his and he has a permit to carry (which the article says he does) I think he's ok with firing it to defend against an attack.

I agree with 100%. The point I was making. Other parts of the State. You have good citizens who had to use their guns against criminals and were cleared within a day. Here in Philly, you have two wild pit bulls mauling a man and his dog and a good citizen has to use his gun to save them. This poor man has to wait days before the powers that be decide if it was justified. Plus if they took his gun unless things has changed,he is looking at months of the run a round until he gets it back.
