Absolutely crazy to think that I'm coming up on my one year anniversary of living in Philly! I moved down the weekend after Xmas last year. I've been extremely happy with my decision to settle here in Manayunk and plan on staying for at least a few more years! It's absolutely perfect for what I was looking for - having city amenities without being right in Center City. While I do still have a car (and had to deal with a lovely hit and run on my car), I've become much more public transit dependent and only use my car about once a week, sometimes not touching it for weeks at a time. The accessibility is great! While my friends living in their CC bubble say "Manayunk is sooo far" I quite enjoy the short 25min commute it takes me every day to get to/from the office. The people in the neighborhood are great and it really feels like a closer community. My boyfriend and I are talking about buying a house here in late 2015/early 2016, so we will see how that pans out as time goes on.

So basically... HOORAY I've been here for almost a year!!

Nice! Funny how you came just in time for one of the snowiest winters on record.

Let's see how this one plays out!

Oh yeah, everyone told me last winter was my fault... I moved here from Syracuse so brought the snow with me!

Boy, last winter was among the wildest. We kinda got spoiled because the prior two winters barely had any snow at all!

Glad you are enjoying it here!

Yes, it does grow on you, and if you were happy even after last Winter then only really good things lay ahead for you :-)

Your observation about CC bubble-dwellers is on point. I moved here from suburban NC. Very car bound, and used to driving 5+ miles for groceries and pretty much anything else. Now, 6 years after being here, the idea of driving more than 15 minutes for anything makes me reconsider the need for the trip. All the "block and a stop" streets, plus having everything so tightly packed together, kind of distorts the Space-Time Continuum. No complaints, though, when I go to fill up my car and have to look at the gauge to see which side the gas tank is on.

Happy 1 year anniversary
