Hi,
I used to live in Philadelphia, PA, just recently moved to New Orleans, LA. My car is still registered in PA. Now the emmission and inspection stickers on my car are expiring on 1/31/08. For, LA they say on DMV website taht if you are a sudent in univ, you don't need to register or change licence to LA. But does anyone know of any inspection center in LA, who can inspect my car in LA, and I can get inspection sticker for PA state? As my main problem is if I register my relatively new car in LA, parish car use tax is 4.75% on the selling price of car, which comes upto $ 750.00, which is a lot. So please guide me if anyone knows how to get PA inspection sticker if you are in LA?

Thanks.

Did you move or are you a student attending college out of state? If the latter, then you really have no choice, do you? You have to get it inspected here in PA. If you truly moved then you need to register your car in Louisiana. When our college kids took their cars oos for college we changed their inspection date by getting them inspected in the summer. (I think Louisana could use your money )

Check with LA and see if you can get a ticket for not having a current PA inspection sticker while in their state? My thinking is that while you are in LA, they can not (and will not) enforce a STATE law... something LA does not have jurisdiction over.

Now, when you take the car home to PA you better get it inspected as soon as you cross the state line : )

Call the LA police and check and see if they will ticket you....
