It wasn't any sports mentioned tonight on channel 6 due to this big story. Praying for the families of the injured and deceased in this awful accident.

Evidently it has happened before at the exact same spot in 1943.

In addition to Amtrak Northeast Corridor and Keystone Service between Philadelphia and New York being suspended, SEPTA Trenton Line (R7) service and NJ Transit Atlantic City Line service are also suspended. Amtrak does still have scheduled service on the Northeast Corridor Line south of Philadelphia and the Keystone Line west of Philadelphia.

NJ Transit is honoring Amtrak tickets on the NJ Transit commuter rail lines (in particular their Northeast Corridor Line between New York Penn Station and Trenton) and the River Line between Trenton and Camden. SEPTA has also added service on the West Trenton Regional Rail Line.

Hopefully none of the injured people will become fatalities or suffer life-altering injuries as a result of the accident.

Sad to say a 6th passenger has died. This hits close to home for me too. I cannot tell you how many times I have taken this Amtrak route-back and forth from school in New York.

At least 6 dead as Amtrak train derails in Port Richmond

In the NYC local news TV broadcasts they have been saying that NJ Transit is cross honoring Amtrak tickets if one wants to travel from NYC to Trenton and that in Trenton one can catch SEPTA into Philadelphia. They didn't mention any problem with SEPTA service from Trenton into Philadelphia.

Same here. I have been on that route dozens and dozens of times over the years.

Yep, also saw that report of it happening in the same spot in 1943.

The recent Metro North train accidents in NY? I've been on that train route too!
